This print features my mixed-media collage ‘At Closer Inspection’ that was selected for the cover of the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo’s 2024 Annual Report.
The piece is meant as a reimagining of reality, exploring the tension between modern society/life and the acceptance of art as an integral part in the balance. The weaving of the sepia industrial images with the colourful playful imagery visualizes that tension, and the woman looking from above represents the analysis of the role art plays in our communities.
The original was made with magazine clippings, gems, and glitter, coming together in a bright, textured, and playful design. A high-quality digital image was then taken, and uploaded in Adobe Photoshop for tweaking.
Printed on 8.5×11” matte photo paper, the print is then re-embellished with glitter and gems - ready to pop into your favourite frame.
